THIS PAST SATURDAY: It’s hard to believe I was a Pickwick Vintage virgin till recently. Busting my Pickwick cherry, I’m already an addict. The big baby of Big Daddy vintage king Richard Wainwright is no longer just the domain of thrifters antiquarians or 90’s obsessed kids. I found rare delights from Chanel, Gucci, Ferragamo, McQueen, Celine: bags, glasses, dresses, sweater, etc, goods – all pristine, all priced far lower than expected. Sure, Crossroads has deals – Out of the Closet has steals – but Pickwick is a true vintage lover’s dream, with better goods and better prices for them than I’ve seen anywhere else. At Diane Rosenstein Gallery`s "Signal to Noise" show, colorful work by 22 artists, curated by writer Michael Slenske, play on abstraction as described by painter Wassily Kandinsky`s as "synesthesia": the subjective sensation of an image. The crowd`s sartorial art was equally subjective: Self-as-Art is an art form, too.

ICandyLA`s criteria, defined by our panel of experts - or expert, I should say - comes down to this:
- PERSONAL STYLE: How unique is someone`s look? How much does it relay about them? Fashion, in our view, should communicate personal visual messages. It`s one of the ways in a big sprawling city to find, identify, your tribe.
- WHAT SUITS AN INDIVIDUAL PHYSICALLY?: We all tend to make clothing choices based on our bodies, ages, features, coloring, our histories - our financials, of course - our determined color schemes. It doesn`t have to flattering, per se - although that factors. It just needs to be - cohesive. A picture, a full story - all these things reflect personal choices.
- IT`S GOT TO BE INTERESTING IN AND OF ITSELF: Outside of how it suits you, what it says about you - does it stand out? Cookie cutter looks are about hiding - which is fine.
